Gundipora Pulwama residents demand scheduled power supply

Pulwama: The residents of Gundipora Pingelan area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district have demanded scheduled power supply along with upgradation of the transformer in the area.
The residents of the area are up in arms against the PDD as according to them they have been receiving unscheduled power supply every winter.
The locals said the existing transformer is developing technical due to heavy load in winters due to which the area reels under darkness for weeks together.
They said that the existing 100 KVA transformer gets damaged due to heavy load on the transformer every year but authorities have failed in upgrading the transformer.
Irshad Ahmad, a local said that the government increases electricity fee as per their will but they have failed to upgrade the infrastructure as the ground level infrastructure has not witnessed any change.
He said that despite paying bills on time authorities have failed in installing one more transformer or upgrading the existing transformer.
Shakeel Ahmad, another local said that like every year, the transformer has started developing snags with the onset of winter due to which the entire area suffers.
He said that there is need to upgrade the transformer now so that locals won’t suffer again during the harsh winter period.
Locals said that they have been raising this issue before the concerned higher officials but to no avail.
They requested higher ups to look into the matter at an earliest so that they won’t suffer any more.
Meanwhile, an official of the concerned department said that the field staff has been already directed to submit feasibility report and if there will be feasibility, they will get another transformer or the existing one will be upgraded in the area.
