Illegal extraction of minerals: Police seizes 12 vehicles, arrests 11 persons in Baramulla
Srinagar: Acting tough against the persons involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals, police have seized 12 vehicles and arrested 11 persons in Baramulla, a police spokesman said Thursday.
He said that various police parties seized 12 vehicles (7 tippers, 4 tractors, 1 excavator) and arrested 11 persons (Drivers) involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals at Ghat Delina, Chakloo and Khanpeth.
The accused persons have been identified as Riyaz Ahmad Mir son of Mohammad Yousuf Mir, Javaid Ahmad Bhat son of Ghulam Mohammad Bhat, Khursheed Ahmad Dar son of Ghulam Nabi Dar, Mohammad Amin Mir son of Mohammad Maqbool Mir, all residents of Ghat Delina, Riyaz Ahmad Ganaie son of Mohammad Subhan Ganaie resident of Zehanpora, Mohammad Irfan Malik son of Mohammad Amin resident of Drangbal, Irshad Ahmad Dar son of Noor Mohammad Dar resident of Jalsheeri Baramulla, Imran Bashir, son of Bashir Ahmad Malik resident of Drangbal, Mehraj Din Sofi son of Ghulam Hassan resident of Chijhama Rafiabad, Nadeem Ahmad Mir son of Ali Mohammad Mir resident of Soipora Magam and Akhtar Ali Malik son of Ghulam Hassan Malik resident of Soipora Magam. Meanwhile, one accused driver fled away from the spot and efforts are on to nab him, the spokesman said.
Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations and further investigation has been initiated, he added.
