District hospital Shopian functioning without CT Scan facility, allege locals
Shopian: The district hospital Shopian is functioning without a CT scan facility due to which the work at the hospital is getting affected, besides the patients too are encountering difficulties, locals alleged Wednesday.
They said that the hospital though upgraded to a district hospital long back but it hasn’t got the required infrastructure as of now especially the CT scan facility.
Aijaz Ahmad, a local social activist said that the lack of CT scan machine in any of the health centres in the district is adding to the problems of the people and they have no option other than to visit private diagnostic centres or other hospitals.
He said that poor patients can’t afford CT scan at private diagnostic centres and they have no option other than to visit government hospitals where they get an appointment after a long wait.
Shabir Ahmad, another local resident said that during the previous governments many ministers were hailing from Shopian but none bothered to address this issue and help the hospital authorities to procure a CT scan machine.
He said that the facilities in other district hospitals are much better when compared with district hospital Shopian but no attention is being towards it.
Meanwhile, the locals urged the authorities to set up a CT scan facility at District Hospital Shopian for the convenience of the people.
“It is unfortunate that a district hospital is without such crucial facility. We appeal the administration to immediately equip the hospital with all such crucial facilities,” they said.
