Pulwama: The PDD employees on Wednesday protested for 10th consecutive day at district headquarter Pulwama over their long pending service demands.

The employees of the department said that both permanent and temporary employees of the department have been pressing in favour of their demands and since last 10 days they have been protesting but their genuine demands aren’t being met.

They said that their salaries aren’t being released on time and their pay is paid through grant in aid and not through the state treasury.

“We have been demanding salaries through finance department so that we too can get salaries on time from treasuries like other employees are getting,” they said.

Mohammad Ayoub Pandit, a senior member  of the employees association said that the employees have been  demanding the de-linking of the salary of those on deputation to the existing corporation from grant in aid and release of regular budget as that of similar class of other government employees working in other departments.

He said that regularisation of employees is pending since decades as files aren’t being sent to higher officials for approval besides that the cases of GP Fund are pending in treasures from the past six months.

The protesting employees once again raised the issue of rehabilitation policy by compassionate appointment to the next of the kin of the deceased.

Since 2019, we have been working in the corporation but even the deputation allowances are not being paid to us, they said.

They said that even families of daily wagers who have died in line of duty have to wait for years together for ex-gratia relief and other benefits.

They said that they are going to continue their protests till their long pending demands won’t be met.
