Miscreants damage farmer’s apple crop in Pulwama

Pulwama: Unknown miscreants have damaged apple crop in Zagigam Rajpora of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district even as the family has demand compensation and investigation into the incident.

Lateef Ahmad Teel son of Ghulam Rasool Teel who is working as Special Police Officer (SPO) said that they were informed by a neighbor that their apple crop has been damaged.

“When we visited the orchard we saw heaps of apple lying there as they were plucked off and even branches of the trees were also broken,” he said.

He added that it seems like the Apple orchard was damaged deliberately by someone and there is need of investigation into the incident.

“We don’t have any grudge against anyone and we don’t know why we have been targeted and if anyone has any issue he should not have resorted to this measure,” he added.

Meanwhile, the locals said that the family has just two kanals of land on which six family members are dependent as they don’t have any other source of income.

They said that this incident has caused panic among the locals and demanded intervention of concerned authorities.

The family along with locals have requested concerned authorities to investigate the matter so that the culprits must be booked under law and such incidents won’t come to fore again.

They have also requested authorities to provide compensation to the affected family.
