Locals demand parking facility at SDH Keller
Shopian: The residents of Keller town in south Kashmir’s Shopian district have demanded parking facility for vehicles near sub district hospital (SDH) Keller.
The residents of the area said that as SDH Keller has no parking facility, people routinely park their vehicles on the road in front of the hospital near its main gate.
The parking of vehicles chokes the road due to which attendants face inconvenience in ferrying their patients in and out of the hospital, they said.
They said that the road leading to the hospital often witnesses traffic congestion and even ambulances remain stuck for hours together.
“If there will be parking facilities available, attendants will park their vehicles in it and it will end traffic mess in the area,” the locals said.
Abdul Rashid, a local resident said that some land is available on the one side of hospital and it can be converted into a parking slot for the convenience of the patients and attendants.
“Since 30 years, we have been approaching authorities to convert the available land into a parking slot but no attention has been given towards the demand,” he said.
The traffic mess near SDH Keller creates mess for around one kilometres and many times even ambulances remain stuck in traffic jam, he said.
Locals said that time and again they have raised this issue with concerned officials but nothing has been done so far.
They have now requested Deputy Commissioner Shopian to look into the matter and direct concerned authorities for immediate steps in this regard.
