Police books three notorious drug smugglers under PIT-NDPS Act

Srinagar: Police booked three most wanted and notorious drug smugglers under PIT-NDPS Act in Baramulla after obtaining formal detention orders from the competent authority taking the toll to 54 during the current year in district Baramulla, a police spokesman said Friday.

The three accused drug smugglers Rouf Ahmad Wani son of Nazir Ahmad resident of Roshanabad Pinjoora Kunzer, Bashir Ahmad Malla son of Abdul Razzaq resident of Dhobiwan Kunzer and Farooq Ahmad Mir son of Ghulam Mohiuddin Mir resident of Zaspora Tangmarg have been booked under PIT-NDPS Act after obtaining formal detention orders from the competent Authority. The booked drug smugglers have been detained and subsequently lodged in Central Jail Kot-Balwal Jammu.

It is pertinent to mention here that many cases are registered against these drug smugglers and were involved in promoting drug abuse trade by supplying drugs to local youth of Pinjoora, Kunzer, Dhobiwan, Zaspora, Tangmarg and other areas of District Baramulla. Despite their involvement in many FIRs, they did not mend their activities and were again involved in promoting drug abuse trade by supplying drugs to local youth.

Notably, Police in Baramulla have booked 54 drug smugglers under PIT-NDPS Act/ PSA in the district after obtaining formal detention orders from the competent authorities and subsequently lodged them in different jails of UT, J&K. Sustained action against drug peddlers has brought a visible change in the ground situation and drug abuse has seen a considerable downfall in district Baramulla. Citizens have lauded the efforts of Police in Baramulla and have expressed their satisfaction.
