Police continues its action against drug peddlers
Srinagar: Acting tough against the drug smugglers and to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police booked four most wanted and notorious drug smugglers under PIT-NDPS Act in Baramulla after obtaining formal detention orders from the competent authority, a police spokesman said Wednesday.
He said that the four accused drug smugglers were identified as Mohammad Naseer Bhatti son of Nazar Din, Mohammad Riyaz Khanday son of Mohammad Sharif both residents of Madiyan Kamalkote Uri, Mohammad Hafeez Abassi son of Abdul Rashid & Zahid Hussain Abassi son of Sajawal Khan both residents of Gawhalta Uri.
They have been booked under PIT-NDPS Act after obtaining formal detention orders from the competent Authority. The booked drug smugglers have been detained and subsequently lodged in Central Jail Kot-Balwal Jammu.
Pertinently, many cases are registered against these drug smugglers and were involved in promoting drug abuse trade by supplying drugs to local youth of Madiyan Kamalkote, Gawhalta Uri & other areas of District Baramulla. Despite their involvement in many FIRs, they did not mend their activities and were again involved in promoting drug abuse trade by supplying drugs to local youth.
Meanwhile, police arrested four drug smugglers in Baramulla and recovered contraband substances from their possession.
A police party during naka checking at Nehalpora Checksari Pattan intercepted a suspicious person who tried to flee from the spot but was apprehended tactfully. During search, 14Kgs of Poppy Straw was recovered from his possession. He has been identified as Sartaj Ahmad Mir son of Ghulam Rasool Mir resident of Nehalpora Checksari. He has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
Similarly, Police arrested 02 drug smugglers identified as Aijaz Ahmad Gojree son of Abdul Rehman resident of Jalal Sahib Baramulla and Shahid Manzoor Dar son of Manzoor Ahmad resident of Mir Sahib Baramulla during naka checking at Ushkara Crossing who tried to flee but were apprehended tactfully. During search, 20 grams of Brown Sugar like substance was recovered from their possession. They have been shifted to police station where they remain in custody.
Moreover, a police party arrested drug smuggler identified as Shabir Ahmad Wani son of Jalal-ud-din Wani @Hubba resident of Singhpora Pattan during naka checking at Jheel Bridge Singhpora Pattan. During search, 168 capsules of SpasmoProxyvon Plus was recovered from his possession. He has been shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered in respective Police Stations and investigations have been initiated.
