Kuchipora Qazigund residents demand potable water

Anantnag: The residents of Kuchipora area of Qazigund in south Kashmir have sought continuos suppy of drinking water to the area.

The residents of the area said that since past two to three weeks they aren’t getting water supply due to which they are facing lot of inconvenience.

They said that Kuchipora Village located along National Highway has been suffering from water crisis since last three weeks and the water supply is yet to be restored.

Tahir Ahmad, a local resident said that area had good supply since years but since last few weeks their taps have gone dry.

He said that the residents have been complaining about the lack of water supply but no effort has been perused by the Jal Shakti Department to ensure regular supply of potable water to the area.

A local woman said that a water stream is flowing close to the village but due to movement of wild animals they are unable to visit the area.

Locals said that they are to forced to visit nearby areas to get the water required for drinking and other purposes.

“Our women folk can’t even go to far off places as wild animals remain on prowl in the area,” the locals said.

They said that this matter was brought in notice of higher ups several times in last few days but no attention was given towards it.

They requested the district administration to look into the matter at an earliest so that locals will heave a sigh of relief.
