Illegal extraction of minerals: Police seizes five vehicles, arrests four persons in Baramulla

Srinagar: Police arrested four persons and seized five vehicles in Baramulla for being involved in illegal extraction and ferrying of minerals, a police spokesman said Thursday.

He said that a police party seized three vehicles (2 tractors, 1 Tipper) and arrested two divers at Shrai Kulhama Tangmarg involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals. Both the accused have been identified as Faisal Ahmad Lone son of Abdul Aziz resident of Khonchipora and Tanveer Ahmad Bhat son of Abdul Majeed resident of Wailoo Pattan.

Similarly, a police team seized 2 tractors and arrested 2 drivers at Babagund Pattan involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals. They have been identified as Shabir Ahmad Wani son of Abdul Aziz resident of Hanjiwera and Farooq Ahmad Ganie son of Ghulam Mohiuddin resident of Babagund Pattan.

Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered in respective Police Stations and investigation have been initiated, the spokesman added.
