Excise officials conduct raids at Brick Klins in Budgam, illicit liquor seized
Srinagar: Officials of the Excise Department on Thursday conducted raids at various brick kilns in Budgam district and recovered illicit liquor at various sites, an official spokesman of the department said.
He said that under the directions of Excise Commissioner Pankaj Kumar Sharma and under the supervision of Deputy Excise Commissioner, Executive, Kashmir, Tazayun Mukhtar, raids were conducted at Brick Klins of Nowbug, Chadoora, Budgam led by Excise and Taxation Officer, Central Kashmir, and accompanied by Range Inspectors of three Districts and other field officials after complaints of manufacture of illicit liquor in the area were received.
During raids 150 litres of Lahan , 2 litres of illicit liquor and 20 kgs of Gur were found in isolated areas .The consignment was destroyed instantly and temporary structures were frisked in the area for any more recoveries, the spokesman added.
He said that the shopkeepers and Brick kiln owners were warned to desist from procurement of Gur used for manufacturing of Lahan.a
