Road connecting Shopian village gets macadamized for the first time ever

Shopian: For the first time ever a road connecting Badimarg village in Imamsahib Tehsil of South Kashmir’s Shopian district was macadamised by the authorities, thus putting an end to the decades-long miseries and sufferings of the people.

The residents of Badimarg village were very excited after seeing the vital road macadamized for the first time ever.

Mohammad Ramzan, a local resident said that since 1947 they have never witnessed macadam on this vital road connecting the village to rest of the district and other towns.

He said that the village was ignored by the successive governments and government officials hardly bothered to visit the area.

He added that this is for the first time that the road is being macadamised which has brought happiness among the residents of the village.

Ashaq Hussain, a youth hailing from the village said that he has never witnessed the road getting macadamised and it was for the first time that the road was macadamised.

He said that school going children, elderly people and patients were suffering as due to inclement weather conditions the entire road used to remain sub merged in water.

Locals said that they had knocked the door of every higher authority several times in this regard but nothing was done on the ground so far.

They said that since last three years, they have continuously taken up this issue with higher ups of concerned department and finally the road was macadamised.

Locals of the area have thanked all concerned officials for macadamising the road from Sursuna.

They have also appealed them to macadamise road of the village from Narwani side as well where a bridge has been already completed.

The locals thanked the Lt Guv lead administration for responding to the needs and demands of the people and taking up their long pending demand.
