Police arrests seven persons, seizes as many vehicles in Baramulla

Srinagar: Acting tough against the persons involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals, police arrested seven persons and seized as many vehicles in Baramulla district, a police spokesman said Friday.

He said that a police party seized three vehicles (tippers) and arrested 03 drivers for their involvement in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals at Khasipora Khoresherabad. They have been identified as Shabir Ahmad son of Mohammad Shafi resident of Takiya Batpora, Sajad Ahmad Rather son of Ghulam Ahmad and Aijaz Ahmad Rather son of Ghulam Ahmad, both residents of Ratnipora Payeen.

Similarly, a police party seized 02 vehicles (tippers) and arrested 02 drivers for their involvement in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals at Waripora Kunzer. They have been identified as Showkat Ahmad Haji son of Ali Mohammad Haji resident of Pariswani and Mudasir Ahmad Shah son of Abdul Salam resident of Gonipora Kunzer.

Moreover, a police party of PP Mirgund seized 02 vehicles (tippers) and arrested their drivers for their involvement in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals at Mirchimar Mirgund. They have been identified as Haroon Rashid Dar son of Abdl Rashid Dar resident of Chewa Budgam and Gulzar Ahmad Malla son of Abdul Khaliq Malla resident of Shilwat Sumbal.

Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations and investigations have been taken up, the spokesman added.
