DGP sanctions Scholarship, retirement gift for police personnel

Srinagar: To boost the morale of wards of police personnel, the Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbag Singh has sanctioned meritorious scholarships of over Rs 07 lakh in favour of 115 wards of serving, deceased Police personnel vide two different orders issued by PHQ J&K. He has also sanctioned retirement gift of Rs. 58 lakhs in favour of retiring officers/officials of the department, a police spokesman said Monday.

Vide PHQs order, the DGP has sanctioned rupees 5.70 lakh in favour of wards of serving police personnel who have secured 80% and above marks in the annual examination of Class 12th during the Academic Session 2022-23. Rupees 7200/- each has been sanctioned in favour of 35 students who have secured more than 90% marks while 53 students who have secured 80% and above marks has been given rupees 6000/- each, he said.

The DGP has also sanctioned scholarships ranging between rupees 5000 to rupees 10,000 in favour of 26 wards of deceased police personnel who are pursuing Primary to Post Graduation level education, he added.

The scholarship amount has been given out of the Central Police Welfare Fund.

Meanwhile, DGP J&K has sanctioned retirement gift of over rupees one lakh each in favour of 58 Police personnel of J&K Police who are retiring from services on 31 of July 2023 after attaining superannuation or opting for voluntary retirement. Retirement gift is given as a token of appreciation for their services to the Department.
