Johannesburg, Jul 26 (PTI) In a veiled attack on China, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval has said the BRICS group could work together on listing terrorists and their proxies under the UN counter-terrorism sanctions regime but emphasised that the process should be free from “politics and double standards.” Doval made the remarks during the meeting of the National Security Advisors of BRICS nations here on Tuesday where China was represented by Wang Yi, who was reappointed the country’s foreign minister after his predecessor Qin Gang was sacked.

Wang, who was foreign minister from 2013 to 2022, now serves as the director of the foreign affairs department of the ruling Communist Party of China, a position which makes him China’s top diplomat.

China, an all-weather ally of Pakistan, has repeatedly blocked the moves at the United Nations Security Council to designate Lashkar-e-Taiba and other Pakistan-based operatives as international terrorists.
