Dialgam resident allege supply of contaminated potable water

Anantnag: The residents of Bon-Dailgam area of Anantnag district Thursday alleged that contaminated potable water is being supplied to them for past several days.

The residents of the area said that since last several days, they have been getting muddy water from taps due to which they are facing lot of inconvenience.

They said that they aren’t in position to use the water as it is highly contaminated and can put their lives on risk.

Sameer Ahmad, a local activist said that the area was getting good and quality water supply since years but since last few days they are getting muddy water from the taps.

“The water we are getting isn’t safe for even animals then how can humans use it,” he said.

Locals of the area said that they to are forced to visit nearby areas to get water required for drinking purposes.

They said that this matter was brought into the notice of higher ups several times in last few days but no attention was given towards it.

The locals have now requested higher ups to look into the matter at an earliest so that the suffering of the common people will end.

Meanwhile, an official while acknowledging that claims of the locals said that sewage water has entered into the tubewell located in the water tank due to recent flash floods.

He said that issue has been taken up with mechanical department and it will be resolved within a week’s time.
