Pulwama: The main Pulwama-Pampore road via Kakapora in south Kashmir is lying in dilapidated condition, locals alleged Tuesday.
The locals from different areas residing along this vital stretch said the road is one of the important roads in south Kashmir connecting hundreds of villages with Pulwama town, National Highway and other vital areas.
They said that road was macadamised around four years back and has over the years developed potholes especially in Kakapora belt and requires immediate attention of authorities.
They said that it developed cracks at several spots and the road is currently lying in dilapidated condition at most of the places.
Mansoor Ahmad, a resident of Kakapora Pulwama said that the road has vital importance and is connecting dozens of villages with district headquarter and even Srinagar but no attention is being provided towards it.
The locals also said that the road is one of the oldest road as it was the only road link connecting Pulwama and Shopian district with Srinagar and Pampore.
They said this road experiences huge rush and must be given priority so that people won’t suffer while commuting.
They sought attention of LG Manoj Sinha, DC Pulwama and other officials in this regard.
Meanwhile, Javed Ahmad, Executive Engineer R & B Pulwama-Pampore said that Pulwama-Pampore road is in pipeline for approval from higher authorities.
“Once we get a nod, repair works on the road will be started immediately,” he added.
