Kulgam: Even after a lapse of around five months, the road damaged due to landslide in Yarikhah area of DH Pora Kulgam in south Kashmir is yet to be repaired, locals have alleged.

Due to damaged road, only LMVs can approach the area and as a result the local population has been suffering since then, they added.

The locals from Yarikhah area said that a fire incident took place in the area on Thursday but no fire and emergency vehicle was able to reach the area to douse off the fire.

“Had there been a commutable road the damaged caused to the residential structure due to the fire could have been averted,’ they said.

They added that the landslide incident took place in February this year resulting in damage to road, a residential house and few other shops.

“But since then months have passed but authorities have failed to take steps to repair the road,” another local resident added.

Sayar Ahmad a local resident said that people of the area have been suffering due to damaged road as they are unable to take construction materials and other things to their areas.

He said that apple picking season is coming up and authorities must repair the road before the season starts so that the trade does not take a hit.

The locals said that government is well aware about the issue but are watching the whole issue as mute spectators.

The locals now again requested the higher ups to look into the matter at an earliest and repair the road so that locals can heave a sigh of relief.
