Food safety department inspects Sopore markets, lift samples of food items
Sopore: On direction of ADC Sopore, A team of the Food Safety Department along with Naib Tehsildar Sopore and employees from CAPD on Monday inspected various markets to check the quality of food items being manufactured and sold to consumers.
The team carried out a surprise market checking in several areas of the town and lifted samples of different food items including ghee, packed drinking water, packed milk and ready-to-eat food items from Chankhan food market of the town for analytical purposes. The checking team also attended the complaints received against some restaurants in the town.
On the occasion, the market checking team collected some amount as fine from the erring food business operators and warned them not to indulge in violations of food safety regulations and unsanitary conditions which are against public health failing which a hefty compound will be imposed upon them in the future.
