Anantnag: The residents of Tangmarg village of Salia area in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Saturday staged a protest against RBB for failing to repair the road of the area.

The residents of the area staged protest and demanded immediate attention of concerned authorities in this regard.

The protestors said that a canal is passing through the area and whenever there are rains, the water of canal enters into the village, thereby posing a threat to the entire village.

“There is just a single spot along the road where the water is entering the village and if authorities would have repaired this road stretch such things wouldn’t have happened,” they said.

“Our village is under threat as water has been entering towards residential areas and locals have to cross the road submerged in water to reach their destinations,” they added.

Since last four years the government has been assuring us that a model road will be constructed so that locals won’t have to suffer at any cost but on ground such things aren’t happening, they said.

Despite participating in all the democratic exercises and supportive of the government schemes, our area has been neglected and no attention is being towards it, the locals said.

They further added that patients, students, elderly people are worst victims of this situation while authorities are watching all this as mute spectators.

They requested higher ups especially LG Manoj Sinha to personally look into the matter and expedite the work on the road so that locals will heave a sigh of relief.
