Sub-standard material used in macadamisation of Gudoora-Pinglena road, allege locals
Anantnag: The residents of Gudoora and its adjacent areas in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Monday alleged that sub standard material was used while laying the macadam on the vital road in the area.
Locals alleged that a PMGSY road from Gudoora-Pinglena was macadamised just two days back but the material used is sub-standard.
They said that within two days, the whole macadam started developing cracks as just around one inch macadam was laid on the road.
“Concerned agency has used a very thin layer of material and that too sub standard besides without cleaning the road surface,” said Farooq Ahmad, a local resident.
He said that macadamisation of the road was started after years of representations to the administration especially PMGSY department to repair the road.
“It is tax payers money that is being for upgrading public utility projects and authorities should take note of it,” he said.
Meanwhile, a local said the road connects scores of villages and was important as thousands of vehicles use it for daily travel and movement.
“We appeal to LG Manoj Sinha, other officials to visit the place and take immediate cognizance of the issue and take strict action against the company and officials involved in this negligence,” they said.
They demanded that road must be remacadamised at an earliest, otherwise they will come on roads.
The locals also demanded that committee must be constituted to enquire the matter so that action is taken against the involved persons.
