Shopian: Patients as well as attendants have been suffering in absence of a ramp at district hospital in South Kashmir’s Shopian district.
Patients as well as attendants said that they have to go through immense hardships in absence of a ramp at the district hospital Shopian.
“I had to carry my mother on my back from ground floor to floor one in absence of ramp as she has to receive dialysis at third floor,” said Mubashir Ahmad.
He said that crucial wards like dialysis centre and surgical wards are located at the upper floors and patients are suffering in absence of ramp facilities.
Shakeel Ahmad, another attendant said that patients suffer in absence of ramp as the elevator remains out of order frequently.
He said that the hospital building was constructed recently and the building should have ramp facility for the comfort of patients.
Both the patients and the attendants said that the construction agency and the planners are responsible for not constructing the ramp while health department should have raised such issue at time of taking over the building.
The patients demanded that government must investigate the matter and fix responsibility for the lapse.
They also requested authorities to look into the matter and construct a ramp for the comfort of patients.
Meanwhile, an official said that Jammu and Kashmir Projects Construction Company (JKPCC) constructed the building at the cost of around 23 crores, however, the structure was built without a ramp.
