DGP sanctions special welfare relief

Srinagar: Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbag Singh has sanctioned Rs. 1.38 crore as Special Welfare Relief for NoK of deceased police personnel, SPOs who have passed away while in service, a police spokesman said Saturday.

The amount is sanctioned out of the contributory police welfare fund and is one among various welfare measures of police headquarters with an endeavour to provide financial assistance to the families of martyr, deceased olice personnel and SPOs.

The special welfare relief of Rs. 22 lakh each has been sanctioned in favour of dependents, legal heirs of deceased Police personnel SI Maroof Ahmad, ASIs Mohan Lal and Daleep Kumar, HC Bhim Singh, SgCt Farakit Khan and follower Abdul Ahad. They passed away due to illness while in service, the spokesman added.

Rs. one lakh each has been already paid to the families, NoK of deceased personnel for performing the last rites as immediate relief by the PHQ through their concerned Unit/Wing.

The DGP has also sanctioned rupees 06 lakh in favour of the family, legal heirs of deceased SPO Ganesh Kumar, who passed away while he was engaged with the Police department. Out of this amount, rupees 50 thousand was already paid to the family/NoK for performing the last rites as immediate relief. The financial assistance has been given out of the Contributory Police Welfare Fund of SPOs.

Police Headquarters is running many schemes for the welfare of its personnel and their families. There are also schemes for the wards of Police personnel and SPOs. Besides, there are schemes for the NoKs of martyrs, their wards and also for retired Police personnel and their families, the spokesman added.
