Srinagar: The two day Farooq Memorial Open Taekwondo Championships held at Sher-e-Kashmir Indoor Sports Complex, Srinagar concluded Thursday.

The Championship was held under the emblem of My Youth My Pride and was organized by J&K Taekwondo Association (Regd) under the aegis of Taekwondo Federation of India, in memory of Late Janab Farooq Ahmed (Founder of Taekwondo in Kashmir).

The competition was comprised of all age divisions with inclusion of the youngest age division (Pee Wee). The first day witnessed a massive combative skill show between the Senior and Junior Athlete’s in both male and female categories. More than 700 players participated in different weight categories from all districts of UT – J&K.

The Championship was headed by Nissar Ahmed (Vice President, JKTA) with support of Mr. Anees Bhat, Rohit Sharma, Faisal Tanvir and Zain Nazir and the Technical Team , who displayed the fairplay decisions throughout the Championship was led by Atul Pangotra (International Referee,WT).

The results of the championship were announced today and in senior men’s under 54 kg

1.Achutam dev Singh, 2. Nadeem nazir, 3. Furkan Nazir and 3. Shivnandan Lalotra secured the three top slots.

In the senior men’s under 58 kg, 1. Danish Yousuf, 2. Faisal Muzaffar, 3. Faizan Ahmed and 3. Muslim Khan bagged the first three positions.

In the senior men’s under 63 kg, 1. Shah Faiq, 2. Atif Muneeb and Rohan Kumar and Aftab Hussain Shah grabbed the first three positions.

In the senior men’s under 68 kg category, 1. Kartik Sharma, 2. Adnan Adfar, 3. Rayees Hanief and 3. Manat Sharma topped the list.

In the senior men’s under 74 kg, 1. Dushyant Kapta, 2. Zaid Khan grabbed the top slots.

In the senior women’s under 49 kg, 1. Toiaba Javid, 2. Aleena Khan-bagged the top positions and in the senior women’s under 53 kg Adeeba Khursheed ranked first.

In senior women’s under 57 kg, Nowsheen Hilal, 2. Shahana Hassan, 3. Aiman Bhat emerged winners.

In senior women’s under 62 kg, Iqba Farooq and Azka Irfan topped the list while as in senior women’s under 67 kg, Azmat Khan emerged winner.

Notably, all the medalists will represent J&K – UT in the forthcoming LG Cup All India Taekwondo Championships – 2023.
