Loktipora Anantnag residents allege say their developmental needs are ignored
Demand intervention of DC Anantnag
Anantnag: The residents of Loktipora village in Bijbehara hamlet of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district have alleged changes in nomenclature of a road that is witnessing upgradation and repairs.
The residents of the area said that road from Arwani to Melhurra via Loktipora covering an area of 3.6 kms has been approved under PMGSY but some vested officers at the helm of affairs in the said department have changed the nomenclature and ignored the Arwani – Loktipora road and started the work from Melhura onwards.
They alleged that main aim of the road was to connect Arwani-Melhura via Loktipora but work has been done in Melbura part only while Arwani and Loktipora area are being ignored.
Sajad Ahmad, a local resident said that after repeated requests to the government, the road was approved but the people of Loktipora who struggled for it are being ignored now.
He said that Loktipora residents have been suffering as current condition of the road is very bad.
Tahir Ahmad, another local said that the road is clearly being diverted and it won’t fulfill the aim for what it was sanctioned.
The locals said that ignoring Loktipora part is totally against the norms laid down by government and there is need to investigate the matter at an earliest.
“The government must set up a committee and take action against the officials and contractors who changed the nomenclature of the road to ignore Loktipora that has no other road connectivity as it is surrounded by a tributary of a river Jhelum,” they said.
They requested the district Administration Anantnag to intervene and do justice with the people of the area.
They also sought immediate intervention of DC Anantnag in this regard.
Meanwhile, an official of PMGSY when contacted said that he will look into the matter and seek report from the concerned staff in this regard.
