Three years on, Vital bridge in Zampathri awaits completion

Shopian: Even after a lapse of three years, a vital bridge in Zampathri area of Keller sub division in South Kashmir’s Shopian district is awaiting completion.
The residents of the area said that work on the bridge was started around three years back but has been left midway due to which they are facing a lot of problems
They said that bridge will connect Zampathri with Pehlipora and rest of the villages.
Shabir Ahmad, a local resident said that their land is lying on the other side of rivulet and student are studying in schools that are lying on the other side but in absence of bridge people of both villages are suffering.
He said that whenever there is low water level in the rivulet they cross through it but when level increases, they have to face huge inconvenience.
Ali Mohammad, another local resident said that they are facing a lot of problems in the absence of bridge, especially in case of an emergency.
He said that locals have been taking part in elections and other government programs and after repeated requests the government had approved the bridge for the area.
“Even base for the bridge on both banks of rivulet were constructed but after that no work has been done,” he said.
The locals said that the government has been spending millions on different works everywhere but have failed in completing the vital bridge in the area.
“We have knocked the doors of every government authority to get the issue redressed but no action was initiated,” they said.
“We have high hopes on LG Manoj Sinha and DC Shopian and are sure that they will heed to our request of completing the vital bridge,” they added.
Meanwhile, an official said that due to paucity of funds work on the bridge has been stopped but he assured that work will resume soon.
