Decade on, school building left abandoned at Hassanpora Bijbehara

Anantnag: A school building has been left abandoned in Hassanpora area of Bijbehara in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district.

Locals from Hassanpora area said that authorities started construction of a building around a decade back at Government Middle School Hassanpora, however, it has been left abandoned.

Ali Mohammad, a local resident said that construction of the building started in 2013 and the construction work was stopped mid way.

He said that the base and brick work of the building has been completed but it is waiting for slab and other works since last ten years now.

The building is in dilapidated condition and can collapse any time, he said.

Another local said that the building is being used for anti social activities as well and government must take immediate steps to complete the structure and put it to use.

A teacher working at the school said that they are facing space crunch at the school as there are just seven rooms for nine classes and administrative work.

He said that if the building will is completed and put to use their woes for space will be over.

Locals said that despite bringing this issue into the notice of higher ups several times nothing has been done.

They requested them to look into the matter and complete the building at an earliest so that students studying in the school feel some respite.
