Huge consignment of psychotropic substance recovered: SSP

Sopore: Police on Tuesday said that they have busted narcotic drug module in Sopore area of north Kashmir in Baramulla district.

SSP Sopore Shabir Nawab during a press briefing said that on Ist April 2023, a naka was placed at Zindri Bomai crossing and while checking two persons boarding a motorcycle tried to fled from the spot but were apprehended tactfully.

He said that during their personal search 3512 capsules of Spasmoproxyvon plus were recovered from their possession and were recovered on spot.

“The duo were arrested and identified as Tanveer Ahmad Shah S/o Mushtaq Ahmad Shah of Seer Jagir Sopore and Javid Ahmad Shah S/o Ghulam Mohammad Shah of Parray Mohalla Sopore,” Nawab added.

He said that a case vide FIR, no 07/2023 US 08/22-29 NDPS act at Police station Bomai was registered in this regard.

The SSP said that during the investigation of the case the accused persons revealed that some other persons are selling these illegal substances in Sopore and its outskirts.

He said that on 10th March 2023, one more drug peddler identified as Amir Sadeeq Parra S/o Mohammad Sadeeq Para of Chandoosa Baramulla was apprehended along with 112 tablets.

During further investigation of the case it was found that two persons identified as Ms Urooj D/o Mohammad Muzaffar Bhat of Batpora Sopore and Mohammad Ashraf Mir S/o Late Farooq Ahmad Mir of Hatishah Sopore are supplying these contraband substances from outside states to the Sopore town and its adjacent areas as per the confession from the arrested persons searches were started to bust the module of drug mafia for supplying drugs from outside states to the Sopore town, on 8th of April 2023, these two kingpins was arrested from outskirts of Srinagar area and 1648 capsules were recovered from their possession.

The SSP further said that by arresting those persons police have successfully busted the module who were supplying drugs to the Sopore area and all accused persons were arrested. Further investigations of the case is going on more arrests and recoveries are to be expected.

Pertinently, the following cases are registered against the family members of Urooj Muzaffar Bhat D/o Mohammad Muzzafar Bhat, case FIR no. 255/2021 at PS Sopore US,8/22 (challened under 299 CRPC).

Case vide FIR no. 15 (01 NDPS act case presently logged at Kot Bilwal Jail in Jammu against her brother Yawar Ahmad Bhat also case 08 cases has been registered against her father Muzaffar Ahmad Bhat S/o Noor Mohammad Bhat, who was presently logged at Delhi central Jail for 06 NDPS cases.

One NDPS Case was also registered against her mother Afreena Begum W/o Mohammad Muzaffar Bhat and was recently bailed out after one and half years.
