Saimoh Tral residents allege shortage of potable water
Tral: The residents of Gujjar Basti Saimoh in Tral hamlet of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district alleged severe shortage of potable water in the area.
Accusing the authorities of ignoring their plights, the residents demanded immediate redressal of their genuine grievances.
The residents said that acute water scarcity has hit their village since the last several weeks while the officials are paying no heed to their sufferings.
A local resident said a borewell was established in the area two years back but the scheme is defunct now since past three weeks now.
Sameer Ahmad, a local resident said that in absence of potable water, they are forced to drink contaminated water due to which people, mainly elderly and children, often fall ill.Another woman resident said that on the one hand the government is putting emphasis on cleanliness but on the other hand the people are forced to drink contaminated water.
She said that authorities are risking the lives of the people by forcing them to drink contaminated water.
An elderly man said that they were obliged that the administration had provided a borewell to cater to the needs of the residents there but now it is lying defunct and needs to be repaired.
He said that the concerned authorities must depute employees to check out the snag so that the residents won’t suffer anymore during thee auspicious days of Ramadhan.
The locals said that they have brought this issue into the notice of higher ups several times but to no avail.
They requested the officials to look into the matter at an earliest so that they can heave a sigh of relief
