Sethar residents demand renovation works on play ground
Anantnag: The lone sports stadium in Sethar-Halmulla hamlet of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district is lying in dilapidated condition due to which players along with sports lovers are feeling dejected.
Players from the area said sports ground at Sethar is the only stadium in the whole bat industrial area but it hasn’t been developed on modern lines.
The players from different villages of the area said that they were hopeful that the government will prioritize upgrading facilities at the sports ground and engage youth in different sports activities.
They said that part of civil work on the stadium was done in last few years but it was left incomplete due to which players are unable to play there.
Mudasir Ahmad, a local player said that despite being a lone ground in the bat industrial area it lacks all facilities and players had to suffer in absence of facilities.
“Many a time officials of the administration visited the ground and assured that work on the ground will be completed soon but nothing has been done,” he said.
Another player said that the ground is lying in a dilapidated condition and the administration must work on it so that local players can be engaged in sports activities.
Players said that if this ground will be developed on modern lines, it would help them to nourish their talent and prove their mettle at mega stages.
They said that developing sports infrastructure is the only option to keep youth away from drug addiction.
The locals urged the authorities to develop the play ground at an earliest so that youth will be engaged in sports activities and will not fall prey to drugs.
