Presence of leopard creates panic in Pulwama villages

Pulwama: Panic gripped Prichoo belt of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district after a leopardĀ  was spotted in the area by locals on Monday.

Locals from the area said that some people spotted the leopard in the area on Monday morning and accordingly informed the officials of the wildlife department.

They said that presence of leopard has created panic among the local residents and requested wildlife authorities to capture the animal at an earliest and ensure safety of the people along with their livestock.

They said that they are unable to move outside their residences due to the fear of the wild animal on prowl and requested the department to catch the animal as soon as possible.

No body from the village has visited their orchards or agriculture farms on Monday due to the fear, they added.

Officials in the wildlife department said that a team has been rushed to the spot and efforts are on to capture the wild animal.

Despite rains, the team is there for the safety of people, an official said.
