In last few months, this bridge has been repaired at least three times thereby diverting traffic for months together, they said.

Rafiq Ahmad, a local resident said that this old bridge on National Highway has been repaired several times in just few months.

He said that this matter needs proper investigation that why this bridge is being repaired so frequently.

“If the bridge needs repairing it should be done at a stretch rather than doing it in phases and causing inconvenience to the locals and commuters,” he added.

Gulzar Ahmad, a government employee said that as traffic from both the sides has to cross through single bridge, it leads to long traffic jams and employees, students face issues in reaching to their destinations on time.

He said that elder people, patients and commuters have to wait for long durations to cross the bridge.

Locals along with passengers said that government must carry all repairing work in one go so that people won’t have to suffer every time.

They said that why work carried out a month or two back is being dismantled and it needs proper investigation.

They sought intervention of DC Anantnag in this regard and requested him to direct concerned authorities to carry repairing work in one go so that people won’t have to suffer.
