Barsoo Awantipora residents demand drain, macadamisation of road

Awantipora: The residents of Barsoo village in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district have appealed to the authorities to macadamize the village road and construct a drain in the area.

The resident of Barsoo village on national highway in Pulwama district said that their interior road is lying in dilapidated condition and it needs to be repaired immediately.

Shakir Ahmad, a local resident said that a U-shaped three kilometer road connecting thir village with National Highway has been macadamised some 12 years back.

He said that since then no repairing work has been carried out and the blacktopping of the road has worn out completely at most of the places.

Nazir Ahmad, another local resident said that drain running parallel to the road often remains clogged as the dirt gets filled in the drain.

He said the local residents are facing lot of problems due to the bad condition of the road and the drain.

The locals said that they have brought the issue into the notice of concerned authorities several times but to no avail.

They requested the concerned authorities to look into the matter at an earliest so that the residents can heave a sigh of relief.

Assistant Executive Engineer (R&B) Pampore, Mushtaq Ahmad, when contacted said they have submitted a proposal to repair the road and construction of a drain under NABARD and the officials are hopeful that it will be approved soon.
