Police arrests four drug peddlers
Srinagar: Police on Friday arrested four drug peddlers in Kulgam and Baramulla and recovered contraband substances from their possession, a police spokesman said.
He said that a police party at a checkpoint established at Kounsarbal in Kulgam intercepted a suspicious person who tried to flee from the spot but was apprehended tactfully by the alert police party.
During search, 110grams of charas was recovered from his possession. He has been identified as Aejaz Ahmad Malik son of Abdul Rashid Malik resident of Ahmadabad. He has been shifted to police station where he remains in custody, the spokesman said.
Similarly, a police party at a checkpoint established at Dalwach Qazigund intercepted a suspicious person identified as Gazanfar Ahmad Wani son of Mohammad Yousuf Wani resident of Banihal. During search, two grams of brown sugar was recovered from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody, he said.
In Baramulla a police party at a checkpoint established at Chellan Boniyar arrested two drug peddlers identified as Wazir Ahmad Joo son of Ali Mohammad resident of Trikanjan and Syed Shahid Hussain son of Syed Abid Hussain resident of Gingal.
During checking, 120 grams of Charas and cash amount of ₹10,000/- (believed to be proceeds of narcotic crime) was recovered from their possession. They have been shifted to police station where they remain in custody, the spokesman said.
Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law stands registered at respective police stations and investigation has been initiated, he added.
