Pulwama: The residents of Tral in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district have demanded posing of adequate staff at Sub district Hospital Tral.

The residents of the area said SDH is Tral is on papers only as despite having a good building the hospital is understaffed as no new posts have been created.

They said that they “continue to face inconveniences in absence of doctors, paramedical staff, and other basic amenities.”

“The hospital is lacking specialists like ENT, full time orthopedics, ophthalmologist etc. as it hasn’t witnessed any new ‘creation of posts’ since decades which affects patient care here,” they said.

Chairman Citizen Council Tral said that Tral comprises of over 105 villages and they are wholly dependent on this hospital for health issues but they are forced to visit other hospitals as the hospital is understaffed as compared to other SDHs.

He said that on temporary arrangements few doctors were posted here but they too have been transferred.

“Posts for the hospital haven’t been created for decades together due to which hospital is facing problems and staff isn’t enough to cater the rush of patients,” he said.

“Till posts will be created, department must deploy staff on temporary basis here so that patients won’t have to suffer anymore,” the locals suggested.

They said that government is well aware about the condition of the hospital but no step is being taken in this regard.

They requested higher ups to look into the matter so that patients won’t have to suffer anymore.
