Pulwama: A New Type Primary Health Centre in Rohmoo Pulwama’ reflects completely a contrary picture of what is being claimed on ground as the centre has been functioning from an incomplete building on which construction was started some 21 years ago, locals have alleged.

Health centre in Rohmoo village, which is about ten kilometers from district headquarter Pulwama is devoid of all basic facilities due to which thousands of people are suffering, they said.

Locals from Rohmoo said that the poor health care provided at PHC is forcing patients to visit either the district hospital or private clinics and diagnostic centres for seeking treatment and medical help.

They said that the health centre caters to the population of at least forty thousand people but the facilities provided do not even comply with those of a dispensary.

“The Centre was established in year 2002 and in last 21 years, the authorities have failed in completing the building, providing machinery, lab and other vital equipments,” said Manzoor, a local resident.

The main problem is that even after a lapse of 21 years, authorities have failed in completing the main building of the centre and two other two buildings meant for residential purposes of staff are also lying in a dilapidated condition, he added.

The centre catering Rohmoo, Goosu, Frasipora, Matrigam, Zaigam, Kamrazipora, Thokerpora, Tujan and its adjacent areas is currently functioning from a one storey of an incomplete building, said Rayees Ahmad another local resident.

He said that second storey of main building is lying in dilapidated condition as rooms are without ceilings, the walls are shabby with no doors.

Locals said that ground floor isn’t enough to accommodate all sections of the hospitals besides that there are no electricity and laboratory facilities available at the hospital

Locals said that they have brought this issue into the notice of higher ups at least a dozen times but nothing is being done on ground.

They have now appealed Lt Guv Manoj Sinha to look into the matter and direct authorities to provide basic facilities at the centre so that locals can heave a sigh of relief.

Meanwhile, an official when contacted said that a Detailed Project Report (DPR) has been submitted for the balance work before the higher ups.

“We are waiting for its approval so that buildings can be completed and centre can be equipped with better facilities,” he said.
