Pulwama: The unavailability of passenger vehicles in Srinagar city during evening hours is giving tough time to commuters, mostly those hailing from south Kashmir.

Several passengers informed that they are facing inconvenience as very few cabs are available for the commuters who have to commute to various south Kashmir areas including Pulwama.

The passengers said that Taxi Stand No 2 at Lalchowk Srinagar where cabs are to be made available for different south Kashmir routes wears a deserted look during late afternoon with commuters facing huge inconvenience as they cannot reach their destinations.

Rizwan Ahmad, working in Kashmir University is a daily commuter who says that he too has to go through the ordeal of not finding a vehicle to travel home everyday.

“Whenever we try to enquire at the stand about non-availability of passenger vehicles, the drivers and management at the Taxi stand have no answers to provide to the people. In-fact we face lot of humiliation as the drivers seldom listen to our requests of arranging vehicles for the commuters,” he said.

“We have even requested authorities to please circulate and manage the official timings of both private and government vehicles running one south Kashmir routes on social media to aware the common people about their rights and take steps to avoid the mismanagement,” he added.

“The University students and employees hailing from South Kashmir especially Pulwama are the most who suffer,” he added.

“You won’t believe even the government buses are running as per the mood and directions of the employees working at the civil secretariat and other departments,” said a student.

The commuters have now requested higher ups to take necessary action by increasing the number of government vehicles and arrange vehicles at Taxi stand no 2 upto 6 pm at least during winters and 8 pm during summers.
