Shopian: Residents of Tulran village in Imamsahib hamlet of south Kashmir’s Shopian district alleged that they are facing inconvenience because of unscheduled power.

The aggrieved residents said, with tariff hike they were expecting power cuts will be minimised but the situation has turned the opposite.

They claimed that they are still facing prolonged power cuts besides that the voltage output in the area is very low.

Nisar Ahmad, a local resident said that power infrastructure in the area has been upgraded in past few years but unscheduled power cuts are still prevalent in the area.

During two hour power schedule, we are getting a supply for just 15-30 minutes but we still have to pay bills on time, he said.

Locals said that employees of the department also visit the area only when they have to distribute the bills but no cognizance is being taken against the complaints of unscheduled supply.

“Every winter, the power department is claiming load shedding as the reason for power cuts and every winter we are facing the same issues but they have failed in resolving the issue,” Mubashir Ahmad, another local said.

Residents said that they have brought this issue into the notice of higher ups several times but to no avail.

They requested the higher ups to look into the matter at an earliest so that the people can heave a sigh of relief.
