Pulwama villagers face dark nights as transformer develops snag

Pulwama: The residents of Zahidbagh village in Litter Tehsil of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district have been suffering due to a damaged transformer that according to them has developed a technical snag five days back.

The inhabitants said that power development department is yet to re-install the transformer which developed a snag five days back.

The locals said that a 63 KV transformer allotted to Zahidbagh developed technical snag and the same has not been replaced by the authorities and the people have been left to groop in the dark.

They said that their transformer has developed snag first time in last four five years but the repair works on the transformer are taking time.

“As department has hiked fee, there should have been additional transformers available for replacement where ever it gets damaged,” Zahid Ahmad, a local resident said.

He said that government is claiming that power infrastructure has been enhanced but on ground it proves to be just a hoax.

Locals said that they visited the concerned workshop where they are being told that their transformer will be repaired soon.

They said that exams of students are about to commence and electricity is of vital importance especially during chilly winter nights.

They requested higher ups to look into the matter at an earliest so that locals can heave a sigh of relief.

Meanwhile, an official of PDD said that transformer has been repaired and will be installed on Friday evening or Saturday morning.
