Shopian:- The residents of Keller town in South Kashmir’s Shopian district on Thursday staged a protest alleging that their properties are being damaged without serving any notice to them.
The residents of the area mainly shopkeepers while staging a peaceful protest said that they are fully dependent on their shops for their livelihood.
They said that most of them have purchased the land and constructed shops and if this land was illegal, then why they were not stopped at that time.
“We have spend all our earning to purchase this part of land and establish shops as well and if these shops will be demolished, our families will die of starvation,” said one of the protestor.
He said that trees of some people are being cut but government must first serve notices so that people can plan accordingly.
The protestors said that government must take action against revenue officials who allowed people to sell and purchase state land and allowed them to construct shops and other structures.
They locals requested the administration to look into the matter at an earliest and come up with a clear cut policy on demolition and land retrieval plans.
