Avalanche hits Afarwat Peak in Gulmarg; several feared trapped
Srinagar, Feb 1: Several foreign tourists are believed to be trapped in a massive snow avalanche triggered at Afarwat peak in famed ski-resort Gulmarg in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, sources said.
They said that the avalanche hit the region this afternoon.
“Although the things are unclear as of now, it is believed that there are several foreign tourists who might have been swept away by the huge snow mass”, they said adding “If it is the case, casualties can’t even be ruled out”.
Meanwhile, a large-scale rescue operation has been launched at the site.
