All major, link-roads, inner lanes clear: President MC Bla
Hails people for cooperation; lauds role of drivers, other staff
Baramulla: All the major roads, link roads and inner lanes were cleared of snow in Baramulla town within 24 hours after the snowfall.
The President Municipal Council (MC) Baramulla, Toussef Raina, who was personally monitoring the snow clearance operation across the town, said all the major roads, inner links and lanes were cleared within less than 24 hours post snowfall.
He said all the men and machinery were pressed to clear the snow from all the roads and inner links within the town including Janbazpora to Khanpora, main town Baramulla besides the roads and lanes of adjoining areas of the town and all the roads and inner links falling under the jurisdiction of MC Baramulla.
“Whole men and machinery were pressed to clear snow from all major and inner links and lanes. We have covered almost all the areas within 24 hours. Besides deputing machines we also pressed our staff to clear the snow from narrow lanes in several areas of the old town as well,” Raina said.
He said in view of the prediction of the heavy snowfall, machines were already stationed at crucial spots and the snow clearance operation was started during early morning on Monday.
He lauded the role of the whole staff and the drivers who were engaged in the snow clearance operation and also extended their gratitude to the public for their patience.
“The snow clearance operation was started as per the priority wherein all essential roads were cleared at first priority followed all other major roads and link roads as well,” he said, adding that people extended their cooperation and allowed the men and machinery to clear snow from all the roads systematically,” President MC Baramulla said.
He also hailed the Mechanical engineering department which pressed their machines to clear the snow from the highway. “It really complemented our work in clearing the snow from all the roads,” he said.
He however, said that any inner lanes or alleys which are yet to be cleared will be taken up on priority.
“The residents of these areas can contact me and I will ensure that men and machinery are deputed to their areas,” he said.
