Anantnag: Despite the passage of more than six years, the overhead railway pass on National Highway near Shoul Batengoo in Anantnag district is nowhere in sight.

The delay in completion of the overhead railway pass is causing huge inconveniences to thousands of the passengers on a daily basis.

Official sources said the construction of the overhead railway pass was going on since 2017 but the executing agency has failed to complete the project on time.

“Since the last few years no work has been carried out at the site due to which people are forced to use a single lane there which often leads to traffic jams,” a local said.

Locals said the spot witnesses prolonged traffic jams causing inconveniences to the commuters.

“The traffic is also halted when the train passes at the spot. And only one lane available for traffic is closed and it takes hours to clear the traffic,” the locals said.

Locals said that this issue was brought in notice of higher ups several times but to no avail.

They urged the higher ups to look into the matter at an earliest so that locals can heave a sigh of relief.
