Dir Fisheries convenes meeting for availability of fish on Mahashivratri

Srinagar: The Director Fisheries Mohammad Farooq Dar on Monday chaired a meeting with all the Officers of the department to finalise the arrangements for availability of fish on the upcoming holy festival of Mahashivratri on February 18, 2023.

The Director instructed all the Officers to ensure adequate supply of quality and hygienic fish during the period of festival and organise special Fish sale camps on February 16 and 17 of 2023 at all the Migrant camps in Jammu Division and areas having Kashmiri Pandit community domination and other key locations in Kashmir division.

The Director instructed the concerned for publicity of sale locations/ spots for special fish sale counters well in advance in both print and electronic media.

He also instructed them to keep a provision for live fish with proper transportation at the doorstep of the Kashmiri Pandit community.

He directed the officers that all measures should be taken to make fish available under hygienic conditions at Government rates at all the Government farms and departmental fish sale centres during the festival period.

The Director urged the District officers to facilitate the fish farmers to install their stalls at Migrant camps during the festival period for sale of their produce.

The officers were directed to ascertain the demand well in advance in their respective areas and monitor the availability/distribution of fish in their areas so that there is no shortage of fish during the festival period.

Special monitoring teams both in respect of Jammu and Kashmir Divisions were also constituted to monitor and coordinate the fish sale during the festival period. It was decided that adequate quantities of Trout fish shall be made available during the festival at Fish Market Narwal, Jammu after ascertaining the demand by the concerned officer.
