Pulwama: Established around four years ago, the new bus stand in Drusoo area of Pulwama town is in shambles, giving a tough time to the commuters.

The commuters said the bus stand has not been repaired since its establishment in the area due to which thousands of people suffer on a daily basis.

“At the time of rainfall, the bus stand gets submerged in water and it becomes difficult for the passenger to enter into the stand and board the bus to their destination,” said Aamir Ahmad, a local.

He said the old bus stand was in better condition than the new one as every facility was available there but.

“The new bus stand was established at Drusu to get rid of traffic jams, but in the absence of facilities, passengers have to suffer on a daily basis,” he said.

Shakeel Ahmad, another passenger, said that the government must take immediate steps to repair this stand so that passengers do not suffer at all.

“There is no passenger shed, no rest rooms are available for drivers as well. There are no rooms for people running this stand,” he said.

Passengers said that authorities are well aware about the issue but no steps are being taken to repair it for unknown reasons.

“Currently, the bus stand is full of snow and passengers suffer in such a situation,” the locals said.

They urged the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Pulwama for his personal intervention into the matter and issued strict directions to the concerned authorities to repair the bus stand at an earliest.
