KVK Budgam kick-starts 6-day Skill Training for Rural Youth
BUDGAM: The Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Budgam on Wednesday started a six days Skill Training for Rural Youth (STRY).
The training is being conducted in coordination with SAMETI Kashmir, Directorate of Extension, SKUAST-Kashmir and sponsored by MANAGE, Hyderabad.
STRY training programmes are aimed to impart skill to the rural youth for employment and creation of skilled manpower.
The training programme was attended by 28 rural youth of the district and Scientists of the Kendra.
Training Coordinator Dr. Shazia Ramzan (Scientist Soil Science) in her inaugural address, emphasized on the importance of skill training on soil testing for Soil Health Management and Employment generation.
She said that the Government of India has been at the forefront for ensuring that soil quality is effectively managed to make agriculture more productive and sustainable.
During the training programme, the participants shall be apprised about the scientific know-how of the scientific method of soil sampling, soil health management, organic farming and practical demonstrations of soil physical and chemical parameters.
Moreover, Dr. Ambreen Nabi, Scientist Vegetable Science on the occasion shared information on soil management in organic farming to the participants.
