11 years on, DIET building in Pampore awaits completion
Pulwama: Despite the passage of more than a decade, the District Institute of Education Training (DIET) building in Pampore area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district is yet to see the light of the day
An official said that the construction work on the building has been halted for the last four years due to paucity of funds.
Notably, the building was sanctioned in 2009-10 with an aim of providing a proper space for teacher training while the R&B department was the executing agency of the project.
“Since then 11 years have passed but the building is still incomplete forcing teachers to use a shabby room of a local higher secondary school as their training centre,” a group of teachers said.
They said that there was not any shortage of funds during the initial period. “But, from 2014-15 , the funds started drying up,” the teachers said.
The teachers urged the higher ups to look into the matter at an earliest so that the work can be resumed on the project.
An official of the R&B department said the work was put on halt several times due to paucity of funds.
“The department has already forwarded a fresh project report years ago but so far there has been no response from the higher ups,” he said.
