Awareness program on PM-KUSUM, Rooftop Solar schemes inaugurated
SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir Energy Development Agency (JAKEDA), Department of Science and Technology on Friday conducted an awareness programme to sensitize the students regarding Grid Connected Rooftop Solar Power Plants for residential sector and use of solar energy for powering of irrigation pumps under PM-KUSUM scheme at Government Women Polytechnic (GWP) Bemina.
The event was inaugurated by Commissioner Secretary Science and Technology Saurabh Bhagat.
Commissioner Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) Athar Aamir Khan, Vice Chairman, Srinagar Development Authority(SDA) Haris Ahmad Handoo, CEO JAKED Dr. P.R. Dhar and Principal Government . Women Polytechnic Dr. Shafqat Ara besides officers from JAKEDA, SMC,KPDCL,SDA, Srinagar Smart City limited and other line departments attended the programme.
Commissioner Secretary apprised the officers and students about various benefits and incentives being extended by the Union Ministry of New and Renewable Energy under PM-KUSUM and Grid Connected Rooftop Solar Power Plant scheme.
Saurabh Bhagat informed about the Grid Connected Rooftop Solar Scheme under which a collective subsidy of 65 percent shall be provided to the Domestic Consumers of DISCOMs for installation of Rooftop Solar Plants for offsetting their electricity bills under Net-Metering mechanism.
The Commissioner Secretary also instructed the Officers of SMC and SDA to make the installation of Grid Connected Rooftop Solar Power Plant mandatory in upcoming buildings and townships.
An interactive session was also held with the students, wherein their concerns and queries about the schemes were also addressed.
Later, pamphlets containing all the related information of Solar Pumps under PM-KUSUM scheme and Rooftop Solar Scheme like prices, subsidy amount, beneficiary share, contact numbers of district nodal persons were distributed among the students and the officers for popularization of the scheme.
