Pulwama: The residents from different areas of Pulwama on Monday complained about the non-availability of public transport in evening hours, leaving them high and dry.

Hundreds of commuters, mostly office-goers and students could be seen stranded at the sumo stands and on the road sides in main town Pulwama, Awantipora and other areas during evening hours, waiting for the public transport.

Locals said that the people from different villages including Litter, Rajpora, Shadimarg, Keller, Tahab, Chandgam, Lassipora, Koil, Awantipora and other areas are facing immense problems due to the lack of public transport service during evening hours for the last one month.

“We have been arriving home late for the last one month as the pPublic transport disappears here after 5pm which causes inconveniences for the people,” the locals said.

The locals urged the administration to look into this issue.

“After 5 PM people hardly get any passenger vehicle to reach home. We request Deputy Commissioner Pulwama to look into this matter as people are suffering on a regular basis in this bone-chilling cold,” the locals said.

Passengers said that if any vehicle remains available in the evening,  they are overcrowded and over charge the passengers.

“We appeal to the higher authorities to look into the matter so that there can be a sigh of relief for us,” the locals said.
