Anantnag’s Historical Sherbagh Park victim of official apathy
Anantnag: The historical Sherbagh Park in the heart of Anantnag town has become a victim of official apathy as it is lying in dilapidated condition, carving government attention.
Locals said that no attention has been given for the maintenance of this historical public park for the last many years. “The park is losing its glory,” the locals said.
The residents said people from different areas visiting the town would enjoy the beauty of the park, especially the fish in the pond.
“But due to pollution the number of fishes has been increasing with each passing day,” the locals said.
They said the visitors have been raising their queries about the pathetic condition of the park.
“People coming from different areas to MCCH would rest in the park but now hardly anyone enters here as it sans maintenance,” said Yasir Hussian, a local shopkeeper.
He said the washrooms attached alongside the park were also defunct.
“The government needs to take immediate steps to retrieve its lost sheen,” he said.
Locals said they brought this issue to the notice of concerned authorities several times but nothing was done so far.
The locals urged the concerned authorities to look into the matter at an earliest and take immediate steps in this regard.
